BIO

I have been blessed with a passion and purpose that I can call my career. In 2011, while still attending high school I started dental assisting, eventually obtaining my RDA (Registered Dental Assistant License) in the state of California. At my previous dental office (general & cosmetic dentistry), I managed the front office as the Financial and Treatment Coordinator for 6 1/2 years to then start my Bachelors of Science in Dental Hygiene program at West Los Angeles College in 2020.

While obtaining my prerequisites, I continued to worked full time. I would  often attend college classes before & after work, or even during my lunch breaks. Having now 10+ years of dental experience from all aspects of the dental office (back & front office) has played a huge part in my success as a Dental Hygienist.

Hard work and dedication is what it took to continuously advance my education in the dental and oral healthcare field. As I transition to become a Registered Dental Hygienist, I do not take lightly the responsibility and care I provide my to my patients. I have always been self driven and don't plan on stopping here. After I graduate, I plan on obtaining my masters in either public health or in organizational management. Teaching has always been in my heart and once I obtain my masters, I hope I can contribute to the education of future dental professionals.

Reflection on Future of Learning and Leadership in Education

There are many genres of education, my division of education I teach is of dental education specializing in dental assisting, dental hygiene and basic life support. My passion is to expand the healthcare educational model by expanding and incorporating new technologies for a new, improved and modernized healthcare educational experience for students. The future of healthcare education must be evolved with technologies. As much of the healthcare curriculum is hands on clinical work, technology such as virtual reality lab simulation and multimodal learning will be on the rise in the next generation of modern education models. As we evolve as humans using technology is an every day function, in order for new, younger generations to be engaged, technology much be incorporated to evolve the educational experience. Now that educators know most students best learn and retain information via visual and audible means, incorporating multimodal learning modalities increases better comprehension and improved learning experiences.

As educational leaders, we have the influence to improve students learning outcomes. Allowing the students to have control of how they learn, gives autonomy to the adult learners. Giving back the control to students, gives them the ability to succeed at a higher capacity rather than being forced to learn by one standardized method. As educators, we must be open and encourage new modes of teaching. Allowing for new techniques and multimodal learning, we can change the new model for learning.
